Race the Falls 2016 is right around the corner. This year we have implemented online registration to make life a lot easier for the small team that puts this event on. This will allow us to set up racer times and the order of racers 24 hours in advance.

Race the Falls will happen the first weekend between January and February that we have between 3' and 6' on the USGS gauge at Vandervoot. This means there are 9 different weekends the race could happen. Hopefully it happens on a warm day. If we don't get rain in those two months, the park service may extend the permit 30 days into March. If they don't, then we will have a very bony day of racing that last weekend of February. So pray for rain.

We ask that racers fill in both email and cell number fields. This will allow us to send you updates to your email and cell phone, instead of you having to check the facebook page.

New to 2016 is that we will have two divisions, a Pro and Expert division.

Fastest time in the Pro Divison gets to chose the size and color from the following boats: Liquid Logic(Stinger, Flying Squirrel, Stomper, Braaap), Dagger Kayaks(Mamba, Nomad, Green Boat, Axiom), Pyranha(BurnIII, Shiva, 9R), Jackson(Karma, Zen, Karma UL). There will also be prizes for at least 2nd and 3rd.

Fastest time overall in the Expert Division gets their choice between the following dry suits from Immersion Research: 7Figure, Arch Rival, and the Arch Rival OX. There will also be prizes for at least 2nd and 3rd in long boat.

We will also have prizes for at least 1st through 3rd for the short boats.

If we have at least two women sign up, we will have good prize for the fastest women's time.

Open boaters will have a couple of prizes for them to fight over.

Race start line will be the steps at the Falls Campground. The finish line will be a Flag at Dead Dog Beach. You must hit the river bank under the flag with your boat and you must be in your boat to get a finishing time. Racers will be given a start time. If the racer misses his/start time, then he/she will get a "Did not Race"(DNR).

Raffle: Each racer that signs up will get a max of four raffle tickets, regardless of division or if racing both short and long boats in the expert division. Racer's raffle tickets will be distributed at check-in on race day. You will be able to buy additional tickets at the awards ceremony, for $5. Non-Racers will be able to buy raffle tickets for $10 each.

The online page will also allow us to get closer to the right amount of shirts we need for everyone. We had a lot of people buy shirts that weren't racing and we were not prepared for that. If you aren't racing and want a shirt, ordering one here will be the only guaranteed way you will get one. We will be shipping shirts and hoodies out December 29th. After that we will have extras at the race, but no promises on having the size you want.

Just like the first race, all proceeds from registration/t-shirts/hoodies go directly to the Kennedy Family, except for the additional fee charged to non-American Canoe Club Members. Race registration and pre-order of hoodies/shirts are non-refundable donations.

If you have ever placed in any type of whitewater race or slalom race, you must register in the Pro Division.

If you have ever been sponsored by a manufacture, dealer, or been paid/received gear at discount or for free to promote anything related to whitewater kayaking in the last 10 years; you must register in the Pro Division.

If you have ever finished in the Green Race or any other Class V race, you must register in the Pro Division.

If anyone ignores the above and registers in the expert division and is found out on or after race day, their time will be changed to "DQ-cheater" and their prizes will be fortified or voided. The race team will switch people to the correct division, due to mistakes if found or brought to our attention before race day.

Racers in the Expert can sign up for both long and short K1. But you will have to pay for two entries.

Minors will be vetted by both the safety director and race director. The parent or guardian will have to email us at [email protected] before we can allow a minor to race. The registration for a minor will be done off-line and on a case by case basis. All decisions are final when it comes to if a minor races or not.
